Yes. The Bus Converter (mBC081) is certified by ETL as Intrinsically Safe.
ETL approved for Class I, Group C-D and Class II, Groups E, F & G, Divisions 1 and 2. Grain processing facilities are typically rated Class II, Group G, Divisions 1 or 2 and our products are approved for this location.
All products must pass rigorous testing. Actual testing varies depending on the product. Common testing includes, temperature cycling from -40°C (-40°F),to +70°C (158°F), impact and vibration analysis, full electrical parameter tests and RFI/EMI testing.
CMC has an excellent track record of quality products, and this is based on customer feedback and fully monitored low returns. A strict QA methodology is adopted across all facets of the business. The methodology is based on ISO standards, and tailored to a modern manufacturing process. Our contract manufacturers are also required to have in place at least an equivalent method.
The EZSentinel Web Server communicates via Modbus TCP/IP as a slave device. The sensors can be mapped to a standard plant HMI or PLC system. The Red Lion DSP-LE protocol bridge is a low cost method of connecting Modbus TCP/IP device to a Rockwell PLC. Using the DSP-LE bridge no PLC code or configuration is required in the Rockwell PLC.
The EZSentinel128 can communicate with a PC using FTP protocol for downloading alarm and temperature logs. Optional software is also available to allow the viewing and operation of the EZSentinel128 from a remote PC. The EZSentinel128 is not intended to be connected to factory automation systems. For direct connection to factory automation systems see the mOI215 Webserver Interface.
The CMC Intrinsically Safe 1-Wire® network is easy to install using low cost CAT5 cable. Like most networks there are some limitations. Here are some basics: each mTB006 field interconnect can connect 6 sensors; each mBC081 Bus Converter can manage 32 sensors; each EZsentinel128 can manage 4 bus converters or 128 sensors; each mOI215 Webserver can manage 8 bus converters or 256 sensors. For more information on the CMC Intrinsically Safe 1-Wire® network see our Best Practices Application Note.
All CMC products have built in lightning protection at all system levels. Lightning protection is built into our sensors, bus converters and HMI devices. No additional lightning protection is required. Lightning protection is effective against many events but no system, regardless of protection level, is immune from direct lightning strikes.
